Makeup Myth Tested: Does RED LIPSTICK hide Dark Circles?

I recently saw this thing on social media claiming that red lipstick was the magic secret to concealing dark circles. I thought, "no way!".. red lipstick is so bright !! How could that even be possible? I mean how in the heck does that work? How do you go about blending that??!! I was full of questions and full of curiosity, and I had to try it for myself.

I intentionally did not watch or view the initial post as I did not want to be influenced. I wanted to do things my own way & find out if this thing really works not just for me, but for you, and for the average Joe Shmo. I went into this experiment totally blind, having not even the slightest clue as to what I was supposed to do.

Products Used:
- Revlon Creme Lipstick - Fire & Ice 720 ** must be a cream formula** blended with :
- Real Techniques Pointed Foundation brush
- MAC Prep & Prime- Light Boost
- L'Oreal True Match W6 both blended with:
- Beauty Blender

The Process -- this is actually super easy!
- I applied my foundation as usual and directly applied a stroke of lipstick (about 3/4 of an inch long) under the center of my eye // where the dark circles were most concentrated.
- Using my RT Pointed Foundation brush, I blended out in windshield wiper motions, corner to corner.
- I decided to use Prep + Prime because of its light weight formula. With a layer of makeup already being under the concealer I wasn't sure if it would become "cakey." I applied 3 coats of this (blended with beauty blender) to completely cover up the red. I'm sure with a thicker concealer you wouldn't have to apply as many coats. However, even with the 3 layers of Prep + Prime, I was shocked it wasn't cakey or heavy feeling. In fact, much to my surprise, it gave a pretty flawless, airbrushed look.

Results/Conclusion
It works! It really truly works. And all the proof is in the pictures!! However, with that said, I didn't see much of a difference from my regular concealer (used MAC Prolongwear on the other side for comparison). Even though this is a highly effective method, for convenience purposes, I'm not sure if I would incorporate the red lipstick into my every day routine as it requires a few additional more steps. Though I may do it for a night out or for very extreme cases when I look extra scary ;)

So what do you think? Will you be trying this method?
